Cheapest Train Tickets

Trains are a funny thing. In theory, they are a fantastic invention. A superb quick, direct mode of transportation with no chance of getting lost or running out of petrol and not being able to find a fuel station ! However, in practise, trains are not always advantageous.

Confusing systems, several changes, signal problems or the classic leaves on the line excuses can all add problems to what should be a simple journey. Add the extortionate prices of train tickets and the amusing automated booking lines that have been introduced and trains seem like a last resort. However for some people, trains are the only way to travel for commuters or university students for example.

How to book your train tickets

The simplest way is in person at the ticket office. Speaking to a human being is not fool proof but you can ask all your questions and book your train ticket face to face. If you do not live close to a station this is not possible.

Booking your train ticket online is a possibility with all major train lines now allowing you to book your ticket there and then. You can have your train ticket posted to you or collect a reference number to allow you to pick up your ticket in person at the train station.

Getting your train tickets at a comparison site

There are some train tickets comparison sites so that you can search around and work out the best price for your journey. Some companies offer you a discount for booking early, some for booking just before travel, some allow a discount if you avoid major train stations, or travel in off peak hours.

Using train tickets comparison site will give you the opportunity to look at all these options and work out a journey that costs you the least at the time you wish to travel.
